Legendary Habs GM passes away

Montreal, QC - Former Montreal Canadiens general manager Sam Pollock passed away on Wednesday evening. He was 81.Pollock, a Montreal native, captured nine Stanley Cups during his tenure (1964-78) as general manager of the Canadiens.In 1978, Pollock was inducted into The Hockey Hall of Fame and in 1985 he received the Order of Canada, an award given to those who recognize the lifetime contributions made by Canadians who made a major difference to Canada.© 2007 The Sports Network
