Senators sign first-round pick O'Brien

Ottawa, ON - The Ottawa Senators signed center Jim O'Brien, their first-round pick, on Monday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.O'Brien, who was selected 29th overall in the 2007 draft, recorded seven goals and eight assists in 43 games at the University of Minnesota as a freshman.In his freshman year this past season with the Golden Gophers, he was the youngest player in Division-I as he was 17 years old when he started the campaign.He was also a member of the United States squad at this year's Under-18 World Championship, registering three tallies and four assists in seven contests to help the team garner a silver medal.© 2007 The Sports Network
