Report: Oilers sign Penner to offer sheet

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oilers have reportedly tendered an offer sheet to Anaheim Ducks restricted free agent forward Dustin Penner.According to TSN of Canada, Edmonton's offer is for five years and $21.25 million.Penner scored 29 goals and added 16 assists in 82 games last season for the Ducks. In 101 career regular season games for Anaheim, Penner has 33 goals and 19 helpers.The Ducks have seven days to match the offer on the table. If they do not match, the club would receive a first-round draft pick, a second-round pick and a third-round selection.Earlier this offseason, Edmonton signed Buffalo forward Thomas Vanek to an offer sheet, but the Sabres matched the seven-year, $50 million deal.© 2007 The Sports Network
