Jul 17, 2007, 21:50 GMT
St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Wild avoided arbitration with Kurtis Foster on Tuesday, signing the defenseman to a one-year contract.
In accordance with club policy, terms of the deals were not released.
Foster collected three goals, 20 assists and 52 penalty minutes in 57 games for the Wild last season. His 20 helpers were best among team defensemen and he also notched a franchise-record-tying 13 power play assists.
Including a stint with Atlanta, Foster has recorded 13 goals and 39 assists in 120 career NHL games.
While Foster's arbitration hearing is no longer on the slate for Friday, Minnesota still needs to lock up forward Derek Boogaard and defenseman Nick Schultz. Boogaard's hearing is scheduled for July 23, and Schultz for July 26.
