New York, NY - The New York Rangers announced Wednesday that restricted free agent goaltender Henrik Lundqvist has agreed to terms on a new contract.
The 25-year-old Lundqvist went 37-22-8 in 70 games last season for the Rangers, posting a 2.34 goals-against average and .917 save percentage. He also registered five shutouts in his second season with the Blueshirts.
Lundqvist played particularly well down the stretch last season, guiding the Rangers into the playoffs by compiling a 1.85 GAA and .931 save percentage over the last 44 games of the regular season.
In 123 career games with the Rangers, the native of Sweden is 67-34-17 with a 2.29 GAA and .919 save percentage. In 13 career playoff contests, Lundqvist is 6-7 with a 2.58 GAA and .905 save percentage.
New York originally selected Lundqvist with the 205th pick in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
