Detroit, MI - The Detroit Red Wings agreed to terms with netminder Dominik Hasek on a one-year contract Friday.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the 42-year-old Hasek will receive a base salary around $2 million, with incentive bonuses that could double that figure.
'Re-signing Dom was one of our top priorities this off-season,' said Red Wings general manager Ken Holland. 'Based on his performance this past season, we think Dom gives our team a great chance to be successful in 2007-08.'
The 42-year old netminder enjoyed one of the best seasons of his 15-year career in 2006-07. He ranked second among NHL goaltenders in goals against average (2.05) and shutouts (eight), while leading the Red Wings to 38 wins. He also helped lead Detroit to the 2007 Western Conference Final, posting a 1.79 GAA and two shutouts in 18 playoff games.
A six-time Vezina Trophy winner and two-time MVP, Hasek helped Detroit capture the Stanley Cup in 2002. He returned to the Red Wings last season after a one-year stint in Ottawa.
