Avalanche sign Svatos

Denver, CO - The Colorado Avalanche signed forward Marek Svatos to a one-year contract on Thursday.
Svatos, 25, played in 66 games last season and totaled 15 goals and 15 assists. It was a bit of a drop from his rookie season in 2005-06 when he tied for the team lead in goals with Joe Sakic with 32 tallies.
'We are looking for Marek to regain his rookie season scoring touch and heroics,' said Colorado general manager Francois Giguere. 'He has tremendous skills and is part of a group of young players ready to make a significant impact on the success of our team.'
Over a total of 131 games, all with Colorado, he has 49 goals and 33 assists.
