Chicago, IL - The Chicago Blackhawks announced Monday that general manager Dale Tallon has been awarded a two-year contract extension.
The 56-year-old Tallon, who became the eighth general manager in franchise history in 2005, has been with the Chicago organization since 1998.
'I'm very excited that the Blackhawks have given me the opportunity to continue to work toward our goal of winning the Stanley Cup,' said Tallon. 'We are continuing to put together the pieces of the puzzle that are going to make the Blackhawks a very competitive team. We are getting closer to where we want to be and when we get there we are going to stay there for a very long time.'
In 1998, Tallon joined Chicago's front office as director of player personnel and was promoted to assistant general manager in 2003 before taking over as GM in 2005.
