Rafalski signs with Red Wings

Detroit, MI - The Detroit Red Wings agreed to a five- year, $30 million deal with defenseman Brian Rafalski on Sunday.The move came in the wake of defenseman Mathieu Schneider leaving the team in free agency, as the Anaheim Ducks signed Schneider to a multi-year contract earlier on Sunday.Rafalski had eight goals and 55 points for the Devils last season. He has notched 44 goals in his career with 311 points in seven NHL seasons, all in New Jersey.A three-time All-Star, Rafalski help the Devils win the Stanley Cup in 2000 and 2003, and has also earned a silver medal skating for Team USA in the 2002 Olympics.© 2007 The Sports Network
