CBC retains NHL rights through 2014

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and the National Hockey League have announced a new deal that will keep the nation's most popular sport on the network through 2014.The new six-year agreement will start with the 2008-09 season.Hockey Night in Canada has been a staple of the CBC since 1952 and the new deal maintains exclusive Canadian coverage of NHL games on Saturday nights, as well as the Stanley Cup Finals and the NHL All-Star Game.© 2007 The Sports Network
