Bills safety Simpson placed on IR
Sep 12, 2007, 1:43 GMT
Orchard Park, NY - Buffalo placed starting free safety Ko Simpson on injured reserve Tuesday, ending the second-year player's season.
Simpson broke his left ankle in the first quarter of Sunday's 15-14 loss to the Denver Broncos when he was taken out low by teammate Jason Webster as the two were going for a tackle of Denver receiver Javon Walker.
The starting free safety was the club's fourth-round selection in the 2006 draft then started 15 games during his rookie season. During that span, Simpson recorded 76 tackles with two interceptions.
The club also released defensive end Eric Powell late Tuesday. Powell was one of only four healthy defensive ends on Buffalo's roster.
