Chiefs bring in K Rayner

Kansas City, MO - The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms with kicker Dave Rayner on a two-year contract.Rayner spent last season with the Green Bay Packers and connected on 26-of-35 field goal tries with 31 extra points. He was released earlier this month when rookie Mason Crosby won the kicking job with Green Bay.The Chiefs also have a rookie kicker in Justin Medlock, who was one of the team's two fifth-round draft picks in April. The UCLA product struggled in the preseason and made one of his two field goal tries in the season-opening loss to Houston. He missed a 30-yard kick on his first attempt, then connected from 27-yards away in the third quarter for Kansas City's only points.Rayner is in his third NFL season. The former Michigan State star was a sixth- round pick of the Indianapolis Colts in 2005 and spent that season as the team's kickoff specialist.© 2007 The Sports Network
