Patriot Games: Pats busted for spying on Jets?
Sep 11, 2007, 4:18 GMT
New York, NY - The New England Patriots were reportedly busted trying to steal signs from the New York Jets on Sunday.
Newsday is reporting that the league confirmed it confiscated a video camera from a Patriots employee who was filming the Jets sideline during the Patriots' 38-14 win. A violation of league rules, it is believed that the employee was recording the hand signals from coaches to the New York defense.
Ironically, the Pats recorded 431 yards of offense.
The league has not announced what footage was on the tape, but also said that it is looking into issues with radio frequencies that arose during the game.
Newsday also reported, citing anonymous league sources, that the Patriots have used video to steal hand signals from teams in the past.
If the league finds that there was a violation, fines and/or the loss of draft picks can be levied as a penalty.
