Rams tackle Pace done for season
Sep 10, 2007, 22:31 GMT
St. Louis, MO - St. Louis Rams offensive tackle Orlando Pace will miss the remainder of the season with shoulder injuries.
Rams head coach Scott Linehan confirmed on Monday that Pace suffered a torn labrum and torn rotator cuff during Sunday's 27-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
Pace suffered the shoulder injury with just under two minutes to play in the first half, and immediately left the game and headed right to the locker room for evaluation. The initial diagnosis was a sprained shoulder, but further examination early Monday revealed the extent of the damage.
The 11-year veteran, who has been named to seven Pro Bowls, had his season cut short last year with a torn left triceps.
St. Louis will have to scramble to remedy the situation, since back-up tackle Todd Steussie is expected to miss the first half of the season with a broken foot. The team is considering moving Alex Barron to the left side and using Adam Goldberg on the right, and also might bring in tackles Kenyatta Walker and Brandon Gorin to fill the position.
