Irving, TX - Not only did the New York Giants lose their season opener, 45-35, to Dallas on Sunday night, they also lost quarterback Eli Manning, running back Brandon Jacobs and defensive end Osi Umenyiora to injuries.
Manning threw for 312 yards with four touchdowns and an interception on 28-of-41 attempts, but left the game late in the fourth quarter with a bruised right shoulder. He will be re-evaluated on Monday and undergo an MRI.
Jacobs left in the second quarter with an MCL sprain in his right knee and did not return. He will also undergo an MRI back in New York on Monday. Jacobs, starting in place of the retired Tiki Barber, ended with just 26 yards on six carries.
Umenyiora exited early in the first quarter with a left knee injury. He managed to walk off the field and into the locker room on his own power. Umenyiora then underwent X-rays that came back negative, but he didn't return as a precautionary measure.
