Vikings, Williams agree to contract extension
Sep 7, 2007, 16:24 GMT
St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Vikings signed Pro Bowl nose tackle Pat Williams to a three-year contract extension on Friday.
According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the space-eater's deal is worth up to $22 million over three years.
Williams, who turns 35 next month, went to his first Pro Bowl last season and is considered to be one of the NFL's top run stuffers, often commanding a double team that frees up fellow Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kevin Williams.
The nose tackle is entering his third season with the Vikings, and 11th in the NFL. Pat and Kevin Williams combined to lead the top-ranked defense in the league against the run, as the Viking only allowed 985 yards on the ground last season, the second-lowest season total for a defense since 1970.
