Report: Vikings, Williams agree to contract extension
Sep 6, 2007, 12:14 GMT
St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Vikings are expected to sign Pro Bowl nose tackle Pat Williams to a three-year contract extension this week.
According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the space-eater will ink the deal, worth $22 million over three years, on Friday.
Williams, who turns 35 next month, went to his first Pro Bowl last season and is considered to be one of the NFL's top run stuffers, often commanding a double team that frees up fellow Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kevin Williams.
'It wasn't a respect thing. It wasn't a money thing,' Williams told the newspaper 'I just wanted everything to be fair. People talk about market value and all that, but that's overrated.
'I'm happy that I'll be able to finish my career playing beside Kevin. Me and Kevin play well next to each other.'
