Broncos sign free agent DE Rice
Sep 3, 2007, 23:50 GMT
Denver, CO - The Denver Broncos signed veteran defensive end Simeon Rice on Monday.
After beginning his career in Arizona, Rice played six seasons with Tampa Bay, recording 69.5 sacks, the third most in team history. In his first five years with the Bucs, he had at least 11 sacks each season.
Rice battled a shoulder injury in 2006 and it limited him to eight games and just two sacks before he was placed on injured reserve. Tampa Bay then released Rice in July after he failed a physical.
In 11 overall seasons with the Cardinals and Buccaneers, Rice has racked up 584 tackles, 121 sacks and 37 forced fumbles.
Rice was originally selected third overall out of Illinois in the 1996 draft by the Cardinals.
