Indianapolis, IN - Peyton Manning completed 23-of-27 passes for 233 yards and three touchdowns in the first half as the Indianapolis Colts crushed the Detroit Lions, 37-10, in preseason action.
Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison, Dallas Clark, Craphonso Thorpe, and Aaron Moorehead each caught touchdown passes for the defending Super Bowl champion Colts, who won their first preseason game (1-2).
Manning's replacement, Jim Sorgi, also fared well, completing 16-of-23 passes for 171 yards and two scores.
Detroit was without starting quarterback Jon Kitna, who sat out with back spasms. J.T. O'Sullivan, starting in Kitna's place, completed 24-of-34 passes for 232 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
The Lions lost running back Tatum Bell in the first quarter with a right leg injury. Detroit was already playing without running back Kevin Jones, who is unlikely to appear in the preseason with a foot injury.
Indy raced to a 21-3 halftime lead and cruised to the win, only the team's second in 13 preseason contests.
