Aug 18, 2007, 23:40 GMT

Glendale, AZ - Matt Schaub completed 9-of-12 passes for 108 yards and ran for a touchdown as the Houston Texans downed the Arizona Cardinals, 33-20, at University of Phoenix Stadium.

Sage Rosenfels was 8-for-13 for 125 yards and a touchdown and rookie Jacoby Jones returned a punt 80 yards for a touchdown for the Texans, who improved to 1-1 in the preseason.

Matt Leinart finished 7-of-7 for 70 yards and a touchdown passing for the Cardinals, who fell to 0-2 in the preseason. Veteran backup Kurt Warner went 7-of-9 for 89 yards.

The Texans got on the board with just over three minutes left in the first quarter when Schaub's five-yard touchdown run capped an 11-play, 85-yard drive.

The Cardinals tied it at 7-7 less than two minutes into the second quarter. Leinart connected with Edgerrin James on a five-yard touchdown pass, capping a 10-play, 80-yard march.

Houston's Kris Brown kicked two field goals of 25 yards before Neil Rackers' 38-yarder pulled Arizona within 13-10 at the half.

The Cardinals tied it at 13-13 a little more than five minutes into the third quarter on Rackers' 22 yard field goal.

Houston, though, dominated the rest of the third quarter. Rosenfels found Charlie Adams in the end zone for a 40-yard touchdown pass with 6:40 to go in the frame.

With 3:22 to go, Brown connected on another field goal, this one from 38 yards out, before Jones returned a punt 80 yards for a touchdown with 2:20 left in the third.

Arizona's Shane Boyd culminated a nine-play, 83-yard drive with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Sean Morey with 12:49 to go in the fourth quarter.

Brown's 40-yard field goal with 8:24 left to play capped the scoring.
