Chargers use running game to down Seahawks

San Diego, CA - Michael Turner ran for 53 yards and had two touchdowns to lead the San Diego Chargers to a 31-20 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in preseason action at Qualcomm Stadium.
Philip Rivers went 6-for-11 with 89 yards but fumbled the ball three times and Ray Perkins carried the ball 20 times for 83 yards and a score for the Chargers, who improved to 2-1 in the preseason.
Shaun Alexander carried the ball six times for 25 yards and a score and Matt Hasselbeck went 9-for-17 for 61 yards and an interception for the Seahawks, who fall to 1-2 in the preseason.
After San Diego received the opening kickoff, Rivers fumbled on the first play and Rocky Bernard jumped on the ball in the end zone to give Seattle a 7-0 lead just 12 seconds in.
Alexander's nine-yard touchdown run 3:46 into the first quarter increased the Seahawks lead to 14-0.
The Chargers, though, tied the game when Turner scored rushing touchdowns of 38 yards and one yard with the last coming with 23 seconds left in the first to make it a 14-14 game.
Nate Kaeding's 27-yard field goal three minutes into the second quarter gave San Diego a 17-14 lead.
A 40-yard field goal by Josh Brown 2:28 into the third quarter tied the game and Brown gave the Seahawks a 20-17 lead on a 28-yard field goal with 3:51 left in the third.
Perkins 12-yard touchdown run just 3:46 into the fourth quarter gave San Diego a 24-20 lead and A.J. Feeley sealed the victory with a 33-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Krause with 3:09 remaining in the game.
