Radcliffe appears fit to attempt Olympic marathon

London - Paula Radcliffe appears ready to compete in the Olympic marathon at the Beijing Games after a stress fracture, her agent was quoted as saying on Tuesday.
The athlete's agent, Sian Masterson, was quoted as saying by the BBC that the world record holder Radcliffe will travel to Britain's Olympic training camp in Macau next week. The Olympic marathon is on August 17.
Radcliffe, 34, was diagnosed in May with a stress fracture to her femur. An examination two weeks ago showed that she is recovering well.
Radcliffe is currently training at high altitude in the French Pyrenees and will then move on to Macau.
The Briton has rarely run in the past years. She gave birth to a daughter, Isla, in January 2007. She won the New York marathon in her comeback over the distance but was then plagued by a toe problem.
Radcliffe won her first big title at the 2005 world championships. In Beijing, she aims to make up for the disappointment of flopping in the 10,000m and the marathon at the Athens Olympics in 2004.
