Oklahoma City, OK - The Hornets signed forward David West to a contract extension.

The Daily Oklahoman reports it's a five-year deal worth $45 million.

West, starting his fourth year in the NBA, averaged 17.1 points and 7.4 rebounds last year. Last year was his first season as a starter for the Hornets.

West, who was the 18th overall draft pick by the Hornets in 2003, finished second in voting for NBA's most improved player last season.
