Report: Charlotte signs G McInnis

Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte Bobcats reportedly signed point guard Jeff McInnis to a one-year contract at the veteran minimum, approximately $1.1 million, on Wednesday.According to the Charlotte Observer, the league will pay most of McInnis' contract under the NBA's collective-bargaining agreement.After joining Charlotte in a midseason trade with New Jersey, McInnis averaged 4.3 points and 3.3 assists per game last season. The North Carolina product has career averages of 9.9 points and 4.4 assists over his decade-long NBA career.McInnis will likely back up fellow former Tar Heels point guard Raymond Felton this season for the Bobcats.© 2007 The Sports Network
