Hawks name Lister assistant coach

Atlanta, GA - The Atlanta Hawks named former NBA center Alton Lister as an assistant coach Wednesday, and confirmed that former assistant coaches Herb Brown and Greg Ballard will return to the team for the 2007-08 season as consultant and scout, respectively.Lister was a 16-year NBA veteran who served as the head coach at Mesa (AZ) Community College over the past seven seasons. A first-round selection of the Milwaukee Bucks in 1981, the Arizona State product played in 953 career games with the Bucks, Seattle SuperSonics, Golden State Warriors, Boston Celtics, and Portland Trail Blazers.Lister, who has also served as an instructor at Pete Newell's Big Camp and the Reebok ABCD Camp in Teaneck, New Jersey, is expected to work primarily with Hawks post players.© 2007 The Sports Network
