Clippers' Brand undergoes successful surgery

Los Angeles, CA - Los Angeles Clippers forward Elton Brand underwent a successful procedure Tuesday to repair a rupture to his left Achilles tendon, which he hurt last Friday during his regular daily workout.The 28-year-old Brand had the surgery at Wilmington Hospital in Delaware. Dr. Craig Morgan performed the procedure.Brand will wear a cast for six weeks followed by a walking boot for six weeks. No timetable has been set for his return. The Clippers will provide status updates on Brand's progress when it is deemed necessary.The Duke product averaged 20.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in 80 games last season. The two-time All Star holds career averages of 20.3 points, 10.2 boards and 2.1 blocks per game.© 2007 The Sports Network
