Dallas, TX - The Dallas Mavericks signed veteran free agent guard Eddie Jones Monday. The terms of the deal were not yet disclosed.Jones, a six-foot-six, 200-pound guard entering his 14th NBA season, made his second career stop in Miami last season following a trade to the Heat from Memphis. He played in just 35 games for the Heat in the 2006-07 season, but posted averages of 9.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.Drafted out of Temple by the Lakers with the tenth overall pick in the 1994 draft, Jones spent five seasons in Los Angeles and two with the Charlotte Hornets before his first stint with the Heat. He made the All-Star team in 1997 and 1998 as a member of the Lakers, and when he averaged 20.1 points per game for the Hornets in 2000.For his career, Jones has averaged 15.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and three assists per game. He ranks seventh on the NBA's all-time list for three-point field goals made, with 1,512.© 2007 The Sports Network
