Report: Mavs to sign Eddie Jones

Dallas, TX - The Dallas Mavericks have reportedly agreed to terms with veteran free agent guard/forward Eddie Jones on a two-year contract.According to the Dallas Morning News, the 35-year-old Jones is expected to take a physical in Dallas on Monday and then officially sign with the team. The paper also reported that Jones will make $1.83 million in the first year of the deal.Jones started last season with the Memphis Grizzlies and after being released in late January, the swingman signed with the Heat for his second tour of duty with the team. With Miami, he played in 35 games, averaging 9.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game the remainder of the season.In 13 seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, Charlotte Hornets, Heat and Memphis Grizzlies, Jones has averaged 15.4 points per game.© 2007 The Sports Network
