Milwaukee, WI - The Milwaukee Bucks re-signed free agent guard Mo Williams to a multi-year contract on Tuesday.
Williams, 24, averaged career-highs in points (17.3), rebounds (4.8) and assists (6.1) in 68 games during the 2006-07 campaign with Milwaukee. He led the team in assists per game and was second in scoring average.
'This is a very big day for Mo, his family and for the Milwaukee Bucks,' said general manager Larry Harris. 'Mo has worked extremely hard to get to this point and we're thrilled to have him in a Bucks uniform for many years to come. We see him as a key piece of what we're trying to accomplish in Milwaukee, and that's to return to the playoffs and ultimately win an NBA championship.'
In three seasons with the Bucks, Williams has averaged 13.1 points and 5.5 assists.
'I'm really glad this worked out for all parties,' said head coach Larry Krystkowiak. 'Mo has a coaching staff here that wants to get him to that next level and we're all going to work hard to see that he continues to develop into the player he wants to be. We're eager to move forward knowing that he'll be a part of this team.'
Drafted out of Alabama by the Utah Jazz in the second round of the 2003 NBA Draft, Williams spent his rookie season with the Jazz before signing with the Bucks in 2004.
