Nuggets sign G Atkins

Denver, CO - The Denver Nuggets signed guard Chucky Atkins on Monday. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.The 5-foot-11 Atkins averaged a career-high 13.2 points and 4.6 assists in 75 games with the Memphis Grizzlies last season.'Chucky will be a great addition to our team,' said Denver vice president of basketball operations Mark Warkentien. 'He is a proven veteran who can really shoot the basketball. Our owner, Stan Kroenke, has once again demonstrated his commitment to winning.'Atkins, an eight-year veteran, has averaged 10.8 points and 3.7 assists in 599 career games with Orlando, Detroit, Boston, the LA Lakers, Washington and Memphis.'I'm very excited to be a Nugget,' Atkins said.
