Jul 12, 2007, 22:30 GMT
Los Angeles, CA - The Los Angeles Lakers re-signed forward Luke Walton to a multi-year contract on Thursday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but according to a report in the Los Angeles Times, both sides reached an agreement on a new six- year deal worth $30 million on July 1.
'Like I said this is where I wanted to be,' said Walton at a press conference. 'There's always a possibility that you might not be back, but I was very happy when I got the phone call that first day and that we were able to agree early so I didn't have to go and meet with other teams. It's very exciting for me to be back and playing with the Lakers.'
Walton, taken by the Lakers in the second round of the 2003 draft, averaged career-highs of 11.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists last season, starting all 60 games in which he played.
