Orlando extends Howard's contract

Orlando, FL - The Orlando Magic have reportedly signed center Dwight Howard to a five-year contract extension worth $85 million.The Orlando Sentinel reported the deal, and the Magic have called a news conference for noon (et) Thursday to make the announcement.The 21-year-old averaged 17.6 points and 12.3 rebounds per game last season. The 6-foot-11, 265-pounder has grabbed more rebounds than any player in the NBA over the last two seasons.Howard, the top overall draft selection in the 2004 draft, has averaged 15.1 points and 11.6 boards per game in three seasons.© 2007 The Sports Network
