Another Terry in the fold for Mavs
Jun 29, 2007, 6:15 GMT
New York, NY - The Dallas Mavericks have a pair of players named Terry, that is after they acquired the draft rights to forward Reyshawn Terry from Orlando in exchange for the draft rights to forward Milovan Rakovic.
Terry, the 44th overall pick in Thursday's draft, completed his four-year career at North Carolina with the schools third-best 3-point field goal percentage (.419). He scored 926 points and came down with 439 rebounds while shooting 48.5 percent from the field for the Tar Heels. His senior season, he averaged 9.7 points while ranking second on the team with 45 3-pointers made.
'We are excited about bringing in Reyshawn Terry after he played for four years in North Carolina,' Mavericks President of Basketball Operations Donnie Nelson said. 'He is an extremely talented athlete, with a long body who shoots deep and can play either swing position. Besides being one of the best athletes in the draft, he is an overall great guy.'
Terry joins guard Jason Terry on the Mavericks.
The 6-foot-10 Rakovic, chosen 60th Thursday, has played his entire professional career in Serbia. Last season (2006-07), he played with KK Mega Ishrana, where he averaged 12.9 points and 4.6 rebounds.
