Raptors rout Heat
Mar 29, 2007, 2:00 GMT
Toronto, ON - Chris Bosh moved into the Toronto record books with 13 points and 18 rebounds, and Miami fell out of first place in the Southeast Division after the Raptors' 96-83 victory at the Air Canada Centre.
Bosh recorded his 34th double-double of the season and 111th of his career, passing former Raptor Antonio Davis for the most in franchise history.
With New Jersey blasting Indiana on Wednesday night, the Raptors maintained their six-game edge in the division.
The Heat, on the other hand, dropped one-half game behind Washington after the Wizards knocked off the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday. Miami has lost three of its last four.
Anthony Parker totaled 20 points, Juan Dixon fought off a neck injury to add 18 points and T.J. Ford recorded 14 points while dishing out nine assists. The Raptors have won three of four, and seven of their last 10.
The Raptors snapped a four-game skid to the Heat.
'We didn't turn the ball over and we rebounded well and we beat a good basketball team,' said Raptors head coach Sam Mitchell. 'That was a good win for us.'
Shaquille O'Neal scored 17 points with six rebounds and Eddie Jones donated 12 points, while James Posey added eight points and 10 boards.
The first quarter was an early indication of Miami's offensive struggles, as Toronto jumped out to a 31-15 lead. The edge grew to 50-28 in the second on a deep three by Parker with 5:55 on the clock.
Miami stormed back, trimming the deficit to 54-40 on a Jones three. Bosh and Parker finished the half with back-to-back jumpers for an 18-point margin.
Toronto maintained the status quo in the third before the Heat made a game of it in the fourth.
The Heat came within 11 points twice in the final four minutes, the first time on Jones' three-pointer with 3:47 left and then on Chris Quinn's three with 2:45 to play. Jones buried two more free throws to make the score 92-83 with 1:36 left, but Miami ran out of time.
