Knicks take on James, Cavs

Nov 29, 2006, 16:50 GMT

(Sports Network) - LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers will welcome the New York Knicks to town tonight for a showdown at Quicken Loans Arena.

The Cavaliers ended a brief two-game losing streak with Saturday's 108-95 win over the Allen Iverson-led Philadelphia 76ers. Iverson scored a game-high 31 points but it wasn't enough to top the Cavs.

James scored 25 points and dished out 11 assists to lead Cleveland. Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 18 points and pulled down 15 rebounds for the Central Division-leading Cavaliers, who improved to 7-1 at home this season. Drew Gooden scored 13 points and grabbed eight boards in the winning effort.

Meanwhile, the Knicks have dropped two in a row and five of six, including Tuesday's 101-85 loss to the Chicago Bulls at the United Center.

Steve Francis and David Lee had 14 points apiece for New York, which turned the ball over 22 times and missed 13 free throws (17-of-30). The Knicks are 0-1 so far on their three-game road trip and will visit Detroit on December 1 to close out the trek.

New York is 4-5 away from Madison Square Garden this season.

Cleveland, which went 1-2 against the Knicks last season, won the first matchup of the 2006-07 campaign with a 102-96 victory on November 13 at the Garden. James and Damon Jones each scored 29 points to lead the Cavaliers.

New York has won five of the last eight meetings overall, but has lost eight of 10 and 12 of its last 15 games at Cleveland.
