Artest, Kings dominate Clippers

Nov 29, 2006, 6:55 GMT

Sacramento, CA - Ron Artest scored 28 points and pulled down eight rebounds, as the Kings continued their domination of the Clippers with a 93-80 victory.

Mike Bibby contributed 19 points and 10 assists for Sacramento, which beat Los Angeles for a 14th straight time overall and 17th consecutive time at ARCO Arena.

The Kings, who won their third straight, played solid ball-control offense with 21 assists against just seven turnovers. They ended the game on a 17-4 run.

'I thought our defense in the fourth quarter was phenomenal,' Kings coach Eric Musselman said. 'I thought in the second half we did defensive rebound much better than we did in the first half.'

Brad Miller, in his second game back from a left foot injury, had 12 points and eight boards for the Kings.

Shaun Livingston had 20 points for the Clippers, who dropped their fifth straight overall and fell to 0-6 on the road. Their last win over the Kings came January 18, 2003, and their previous victory at Sacramento was November 7, 1997.

Although Los Angeles outrebounded the Kings, 56-44, the Clippers shot an abysmal 30.6 percent from the field.

'We couldn't make any of our open shots,' Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy said. 'But, we did a good job taking care of the basketball, making our free throws, and keeping ourselves in the game for a long time.'

Cuttino Mobley's three-pointer tied the game at 76 for the Clippers with 8:50 remaining, but the Kings responded with a 9-0 run to stay in front. Miller drained a 21-foot jumper and Bibby hit a pair of shots, including a three. Artest's jumper capped the flurry with 4:34 left.

Mobley ended with 16 points, while Elton Brand totaled 13 points and 18 boards for the Clippers, who also got 12 points from Tim Thomas.

It was tied at 23 after one quarter and the Kings led 47-45 at the half and 70-67 going into the fourth.

Game Notes

The Kings have won 27 of the 32 meetings.

The Clippers had 15 assists and eight turnovers.

The Kings next travel to Dallas and San Antonio for games Friday and Saturday, respectively.
