Toronto, ON - The Toronto Raptors have called a news conference for 11 a.m. (et) on Friday to announce a contract extension for center Chris Bosh.
An All-Star this past season, Bosh averaged 22.5 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists, while leading the team with 79 blocks.
The Raptors have also reportedly agreed to acquire swingman John Salmons from the Philadelphia 76ers in a sign-and-trade deal. The Sixers will get a second- round draft choice and a $2 million trade exception.
The Philadelphia Daily News reports Salmons came to terms on a five-year, $23 million contract with the Sixers accommodating his wishes to be traded to Toronto.
Salmons averaged a career-best 7.5 points last season and started in 24 of the 82 games in which he appeared. He also had 2.7 assists and 2.7 rebounds.
The Raptors announced Thursday they have waived guard Andre Barrett. He appeared in 19 games last season, averaging 4.6 points.
