Monte Carlo - Employees of the tyre manufacturer Michelin will wear black ribbons at Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix after the death of Edouard Michelin.
The 42-year-old, who was co-chairman of the board of the company, died in a boating accident off the north west coast of France police confirmed on Friday.
Michelin's body was found near the island of Sein.
The sport's controlling body, FIA, on Saturday expressed their condolences to family, friends and employees.
Michelin provides tyres for the defending champions Renault, as well as McLaren-Mercedes, Honda, Red Bull, BMW-Sauber and Scuderia Toro Rosso.
They have announced that they will be withdrawing from Formula One at the end of the season following FIA's earlier announcement that from the 2008 season only one tyre manufacturer will be permitted.
Edouard Michelin had a number of positions within the company in the last 21 years and was made co-chairman of the board in 1999. The company has said that Michel Rollier will take over the running of the company.
