Frankfurt, Germany - Michael Schumacher is likely to extend his Formula One career beyond 2006, Germany's Welt am Sonntag Sunday paper said, citing an un-named member of his Ferrari team.
'Michael will continue,' the paper cited the 'high-ranking' Ferrari member as saying.
The record seven-time world champion Schumacher has a contract until the end of the season at Ferrari. He has said over the past weeks that he won't announce a decision on his future until summer.
The Welt am Sonntag also cited a person close to Schumacher as saying that the 37-year-old German would continue racing although he no longer dominates the sport.
'Michael has had enough of the question whether he will continue or not. It appears that no one has realized that he can't imagine a life without racing,' the source was quoted as saying.
Schumacher has named a competitive car the most important factor to continue his career. He ranks fourth in the 2006 drivers' standings, placing second in Bahrain and sixth in Malaysia, but crashing out one week ago in Australia.
