From Monsters and Critics.com Major League Baseball Boston, MA - The Boston Red Sox placed shortstop Alex Gonzalez on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday because of an oblique strain. The move is retroactive to August 19th. To fill his roster spot, the Red Sox recalled infielder Dustin Pedroia from Triple-A Pawtucket. Pedroia made his major league debut in Boston's 4-3 loss to the LA Angels of Anaheim on Tuesday, going 1-for-3. On the season, the shortstop's first with Boston after eight in Florida, Gonzalez is hitting .270 with nine homers and 43 RBI. © 2006 The Sports Network
