New York, NY - Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Antonio Alfonseca was suspended for four games and fined an undisclosed amount for intentionally throwing at Colorado's Todd Helton on Thursday.
With two outs in the top of the seventh, Alfonseca hit Helton with a pitch that was high and inside. Two Phillies -- Chase Utley and Jayson Werth -- were hit by pitches earlier in the game.
Alfonseca, who is 4-1 with a 5.06 ERA in 58 appearances for Philadelphia this season, has filed an appeal.
