Marlins claim Carvajal, move Boone to 60-day DL

Miami, FL - The Florida Marlins made a pair of roster moves on Wednesday, during the Marlins' 5-4 win over Washington in 12 innings.
Florida claimed right-handed pitcher Marcos Carvajal off waivers from the New York Mets. The 23-year-old was 5-10 with a 5.22 ERA in 28 games with the Mets' Double-A affiliate in Binghamton. He last pitched in the majors with Colorado in 2005, going 0-2 in 39 appearances. Carvajal is expected to join the club Friday in Colorado.
The club placed infielder Aaron Boone on the 60-day disabled list with a left knee sprain. Boone had been on the DL since June 26, two days after he tripped over the mound while participating in a cutoff play against the Minnesota Twins. Boone later underwent season-ending surgery.
Boone, in his first year with the club, batted .286 with five home runs and 28 RBI in 69 games.
