Braves' Renteria activated
Sep 7, 2007, 23:40 GMT
Atlanta, GA - The Atlanta Braves activated shortstop Edgar Renteria from the 15-day disabled list prior to the team's game against Washington on Friday night.
Renteria, who did not play in Atlanta's 7-1 victory over the Nationals, had been sidelined since August 3 with a sprained right ankle. He returned August 22 against Cincinnati, but tweaked the injury and was placed back on the DL on August 23.
Despite missing what amounted to the team's last 31 games, Renteria entered play Friday second in the NL with his .336 batting average, with 11 home runs and 53 RBI. Philadelphia's Chase Utley leads the league with a .340 average.
