A-Rod has MRI on ankle
Sep 5, 2007, 23:29 GMT
Bronx, NY - New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez underwent an MRI on his right ankle, but remained in the lineup for Wednesday night's crucial matchup with the Seattle Mariners.
He ripped two home runs in one inning as the Yankees exploded for eight runs in the seventh to rout the Seattle Mariners, 10-2. A-Rod upped his total to a major league-best 48 homers.
Rodriguez injured the ankle sliding into third base in the seventh inning of Tuesday's 12-3 win over the Mariners. He was originally penciled in the lineup batting fourth and playing third base, but when he arrived at the ballpark with a noticeable limp, Rodriguez was sent away to take the MRI.
The results were not known as the game started, but Rodriguez remained in the cleanup spot in the batting order, but as a designated hitter, pushing Jorge Posada to the bench. Wilson Betemit played third base for the Yankees.
