A-Rod injured against Twins
Jul 3, 2007, 1:20 GMT
Bronx, NY - Alex Rodriguez injured his left leg after beating out a potential double play in the sixth frame of Monday's game against Minnesota.
The Yankees scored four times in the sixth inning, but it didn't come without a loss. Rodriguez hit a chopper that short-hopped third baseman Jeff Cirillo, who dug it out and fired to Luis Castillo at second.
His high relay toss to first pulled Justin Morneau off the bag, and the first baseman's right foot peeled back and collided with Rodriguez's left leg.
Rodriguez limped around for several minutes while getting checked out by the trainer and manager Joe Torre. He stayed in the game during Jorge Posada's at- bat, but came out for pinch-runner Miguel Cairo when Posada walked.
At the time of Rodriguez's departure, the Yankees held a 5-1 lead. Rodriguez was 0-for-4 with an RBI and two strikeouts.
