A-Rod still leads in AL All-Star voting

New York, NY - New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez remains the top vote-getter in the American League's final balloting update for the 2007 All-Star Game.
Rodriguez, a 10-time All-Star, has eclipsed the two-million vote mark with 2,542,551 votes and is on track to finish as the leading vote-getter for the first time in his career. His teammate, shortstop Derek Jeter, is second in the overall voting with 2,127,177 votes and is followed by the Angels' Vladimir Guerrero (2,043,824).
Boston's David Ortiz (1,810,440) leads at first base, while Placido Polanco (1,269,717) of the Tigers holds a slim lead over New York's Robinson Cano (965,712) at second base.
Detroit's Ivan Rodriguez (1,362,506) leads a closely-contested race behind the plate. New York's Jorge Posada (1,111,926), Minnesota's Joe Mauer (951,664) and Boston's Jason Varitek (939,626) are all within reach in the four-way battle.
Magglio Ordonez (1,445,899) has joined the AL leaders in the outfield for the first time, moving to second place behind Guerrero. Seattle's Ichiro Suzuki (1,409,762) holds third place, while Boston's Manny Ramirez is fourth with 1,386,522 votes.
In-stadium balloting at Major League ballparks concluded on June 22. Fans can still cast their votes up to 25 times on a ballot at MLB.com until Thursday, June 28 at 11:59 p.m. (et).
Rosters for this year's All-Star Game will be unveiled on Sunday, July 1.
The 78th All-Star Game will be played on July 10 at San Francisco's AT&T Park.
