From Monsters and Critics.com Men's College Basketball Chestnut Hill, MA - Boston College has extended the contract of men's basketball coach Al Skinner through the 2012-13 season. Skinner will begin his 11th season at Boston College this fall. 'Al Skinner has led our basketball program to a level of consistent excellence,' school AD Gene DeFilippo said in making the announcement. 'He has established himself as one of the top coaches in all of college basketball. Our program is in very good hands, and we are pleased to have him continue as our head coach.' Skinner has a record of 196-120 at Boston College, including a 21-12 mark last season, which ended with a loss in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to an eventual Final Four team in Georgetown Since the start of the 2000-01 season, the Eagles have won 164 games for the highest seven-year win total in school history. Skinner joined Boston College in April 1997 after serving nine years as the head coach at Rhode Island. © 2007 The Sports Network
