From Monsters and Critics.com Men's College Basketball Pittsburgh, PA - Duquesne University announced that sophomore forward Robert Mitchell has been granted his release from the school on Wednesday, allowing him to transfer. Mitchell averaged a team-high 16.4 points per game last year en route to Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year honors. The 6-foot-6, 180-pound Mitchell, whose scoring average ranked ninth among the nation's Division I freshmen, was just the second Duke to capture the Rookie of the Year award since Bruce Atkins accomplished the feat in 1978-79. 'Rob felt that it would be in his best interest to pursue a transfer and we accommodated him,' said Duquesne head coach Ron Everhart. 'Rob is a great kid and we wish him the best.' © 2007 The Sports Network
