Tallahassee, FL - Florida A&M University fired basketball coach Mike Gillespie Sr. on Tuesday.

Gillespie has been on paid administrative leave by the school since May when he was arrested for misdemeanor stalking. He will remain on paid leave through November 2.

Gillespie compiled a 90-94 career mark overall in six seasons at the school, winning a pair of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament titles in 2004 and 2007. He went 62-46 in league play.

Last season he guided the Rattlers to a record of 21-14 and a MEAC Tournament championship. FAMU played the opening round game of the NCAA Tournament and dropped a 77-69 decision to Niagara.
