From Monsters and Critics.com Men's College Basketball Bethlehem, PA - Lehigh University has named Brett Reed as its new head men's basketball coach. Reed, who was elevated from associate head coach, takes over for Billy Taylor, who left the program to become Ball State's coach on Tuesday. Reed has been an assistant at Lehigh for the past five years. 'During my time here at Lehigh, we have been able to accomplish substantial growth as a program and have laid the foundation for future success,' Reed said. 'I am proud of my role in building Lehighs basketball program. I am looking forward to further strengthening Lehigh as a championship caliber program.' During his time at Lehigh, Reed has played an instrumental role in the Mountain Hawks 2004 Patriot League Championship as well as two of the winningest seasons in school history (2003-04, 2005-06). 'I'm extremely proud for Brett and his family,' Taylor said. 'Brett has been a wonderful fit for Lehigh and a tremendous leader in the program during his five years.' © 2007 The Sports Network
